A Romantic Ramble in Chelsea

  • Chelsea Art Galleries

  • Begin at W. 20th Street and 10th Avenue, New York, NY 10011

Chelsea’s exhilarating mix of cutting-edge masterworks should not be missed by lovers and lovers of the visual arts. Steal away for a weekday afternoon and check out the Gagosian, Pace, Matthew Marks, Andrea Rosen and David Zwirner galleries, each of which launched the careers of important contemporary artists. When you have an appetite for more than a visual feast, tuck into tantalizing tapas at Tia Pol or farm-to-table fare at Cookshop. Just before dusk, ascend the narrow staircase at the corner of West 20th Street and 10th Avenue. Suddenly you’re on the High Line, an elevated railroad line, now an industrial-chic park weaving through 19th-century lower Manhattan and along the Hudson River. The park closes at 10:00PM.
